One of the main objectives of the Department is to produce qualified, competent and employable civil engineering graduates to cater to the needs of industry and society by imparting requisite knowledge and training in different areas of civil engineering and emerging technologies. Add-on courses are also offered to the students to bridge the gap between the curriculum and the industry needs. The add-on courses include among others training in the state-of-art civil engineering software, latest technical practices etc.

We have conducted the following add on courses for the 6th and 8th semester students:
1. AutoCAD
AutoCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) program used for 2-D and 3-D design and drafting. AutoCAD is developed and marketed by Autodesk Inc.
2. Autodesk Revit
Autodesk Revit is building information modeling software for architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, designers and contractors. It allows users to design a building and structure and its components in 3D, annotate the model with 2D drafting elements, and access building information from the building model's database. Revit is 4D BIM capable with tools to plan and track various stages in the building's lifecycle, from concept to construction and later demolition.
3. Autodesk 3ds Max.
Autodesk 3ds Max, formerly 3D Studio Max, is a professional 3D computer graphics program for making 3D animations, models, games and images. It is developed and produced by Autodesk Media and Entertainment. It has modeling capabilities, a flexible plugin architecture and can be used on the Microsoft Windows platform. It is frequently used by video game developers, many TV commercial studios and architectural visualization studios. It is also used for movie effects and movie pre-visualization.
Technical talks/lectures from experts drawn from industry and academia are organized under the auspices of Civil Engineering Forum for the benefit of students. Technical visits are also arranged for the benefit of students.
The students are encouraged to participate in technical competitions, quiz and paper presentations, workshops, seminars, conferences etc.
The other objectives are to make the Department an effective R & D Centre as well as Centre for Industrial Consultancy in the future.
Identifying the potential clients with regard to consultancy services is also on.
